So I have taken a couple of months to gather my thoughts and rearrange my life a bit. I have cleaned out some closets, reorganized my office/studio, de-cluttered my computer and gotten rid of almost all of the inventory I had left over from my previous direct sales job. I have also reorganized my craft show displays and replaced some of my display shelves and props. I guess I am the type of person who likes to try and get as organized as possible before I move on to something new and while there are a few things that need to be done yet, I feel I am ready to take on my new and improved life. One thing that is big plus to all of this is that I have gotten rid of a lot of stress. I am clearing out the most stressful things (at least the ones I have control over) and I can’t believe the difference it is starting to make. It actually helps with the things I don’t have control over and I am starting to feel a little less stressed about those things too.
I have been working on projects (of course) through all this and here are a couple of things I have worked on.
Baby sweater and hat set
Some cute baby items for some of my friends. Two of my girlfriends are becoming grandmas for the first time this spring. (I’m way ahead of them both with 5 grandbabies so far… hehe) So I am in kind of a baby items kick. I should have a few more to show with the next post.
I hope you all have a great spring and I hope winter is done for good! Some fresh air to go with my fresh life would be most welcome 🙂
I didn’t mean to go AWOL on this blog… it just sorta happened. I am living in what seems like chaos all around me these days and I feel the frustration starting to creep in.
I don’t think anyone knows the true meaning of “work from home” except those of us who actually do. Most people think that means they can interrupt you endlessly, because let’s face it, if your at home you’re not really working. UGH!! Don’t get me wrong, I love my friends, family and neighbors and I love to spend time with them. But people – you have to know the definition of work at home.
I run a home based business (actually two) which means THIS is my place of work. Keeping work and personal time is a bigger challenge for work at home people anyway, but I don’t think it’s too much to ask for a little respect when it comes to my needing to set aside specific work hours. I don’t come to your office and waste an hour of your time or tell you that you have to leave your office to deal with personal things just because now is more convenient for me. And I can assure you that Grandma is not sitting at home, twiddling her thumbs just waiting for a grandbaby to show up so she has something to do. I am a busy and hard working person with schedules to keep and deadlines to meet, just like any working person. I have to schedule in my personal time just like anyone else, but it’s a little hard to set up a work schedule and personal schedule when pretty much no one even asks what that may be and really doesn’t seem to hear me when I tell them what the schedule is.
All I’m asking is that when you deal with people who work at home, ask when is a good time to stop in or call or get together for coffee. Don’t assume that we don’t have “office hours” just because our office is in our home. Thank you.
OK I think I’m done venting for now. Time to push the frustration aside and get some projects and tasks done – provided there are no interruptions, that is…
